Marion County probation and parole agent fired
Mon, 02 Apr 2012 21:37:30 GMT —
The Deputy Director for Legal Services with the SC Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services, Paula Magargle, says agent Michelle Barnhill has been fired from the agency.
In February, the agency began an internal investigation after police say Barnhill was at a Mullins home when a drug raid took place.
Magargle isn't saying if Barnhill's termination was the result of that internal investigation.
Deputies with the Marion County Sheriff's Office say she was not charged in the incident.
Deputies say they did charge Derick Chad Hardwick, 31. He faces two counts of distribution of cocaine, two counts of distribution of a scheduled IV controlled substance, distribution of a scheduled III controlled substance, five counts of distribution of controlled substance within the proximity to a school or park, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute schedule IV controlled substance, and possession of anabolic steroids.
Probation officials have said if their internal investigation find any criminal actions by Barnhill, they will turn the case over to the State Law Enforcement Division.
