Marion County K-9 gets overheated during manhunt for man who fled from traffic stop

A Marion County K-9 officer got overheated during a manhunt Thursday afternoon and had to be taken to the animal hospital, according to Marion County Sheriff Brian Wallace.

Wallace said they were searching along Highway 917 near the Horry County line for an armed man who ran following a traffic stop.

Wallace said the man is is now in custody and will be charged in connection with evading a traffic stop.

He added the K-9 officer will be treated for heat exhaustion and they're hoping he'll be okay.
