Man wanted after murder in Atlanta arrested in Myrtle Beach with loaded AK47

A man who was wanted in connection with a murder in Atlanta, Ga., was arrested today in Myrtle Beach, according to Lt. Joey Crosby.

Officers with the Myrtle Beach Police Department, United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, and the ATF Task Force arrested Leroy Copney, of Georgia, in connection with a murder that occurred on December 30, 2016.

"At the time of Copney's arrest, he was in possession of a loaded AK47," Crosby said.

Copney has been charged with fugitive of justice, illegal possession of a weapon and narcotics charges.
