Man trapped in machine

Medical helicopter waiting for crews to free a man stuck in a machine

Firefighters and first responders freed a 21-year-old man who was trapped inside a machine at Ingram Lumber yard on Planer Road in Pamplico.

It took about two hours and 15 minutes to get the man out of the machine Tuesday morning.

Howe Springs Firefighters say EMS officials had LifeCare standing by to fly the man to a hospital as soon as he was freed.

We're told the man stepped into a log press and it closed on his leg. His legs may be seriously injured. A surgeon was on scene as a precaution.

Firefighters say lumber yard employees took the machine apart to make it easier to free the man. They say so far, he still has feeling in his legs and can wiggle his toes.

He became trapped about 9 a.m. Tuesday.

The victim, Tyler Rauch is recovering well at a local hospital.
