      Man robs bank in Cheraw

He appears to leave some of the money behind as he goes.

A man wearing sunglasses robbed the First Citizens Bank on Market Street in downtown Cheraw around 10 a.m. Thursday, according to Cheraw Police Chief Jay Brooks, in what is the third bank robbery in two days in the Pee Dee.

The man walked in and handed the teller a note demanding money, Brooks said.

The man took the money from the teller and then dropped it. A customer, unaware it was a robbery, helped the man pick it up.

Police aren't sure if the man left on foot or by car.

      No weapon was shown.

Chief Brooks initially believed the man in this robbery was the same man wanted by Darlington police in connection to a bank robbery there on Wednesday.s the same man wanted by Darlington police in connection to a bank robbery there on Wednesday.

Brooks thought the man may have altered his appearance. But late Thursday afternoon, Brooks said he now believes it is not the same man.
