Man pulled from submerged car in Myrtle Beach

Firefighters rescued a man from his vehicle after he drove it into a small pond off 48th Avenue Wednesday night.

"The fire department arrived on scene before we did, there was one occupant in the car, a male, he was extracted by the fire department and from what I was told he was conscious when they took him out of the car," said Corporal Paul Morrell with the Myrtle Beach Police Department.

Morrell added its likely the driver misjudged the turn into The Park community, winding up in the pond.

Diver's with the Myrtle Beach Police Department were called in to help a tow truck pull the 4-door sedan from the water.

The driver's condition has not been released.
