A man arrested after a high speed chase in Horry County three weeks ago has cut off the ankle strap he was wearing for home detention, and police are searching for him.

On November 14th, Kashief Spain, 34, of Myrtle Beach was leading police on a chase on Highway 31 when officers say he threw a gun out of his car window. That gun was later determined to be the one stolen from the former North Myrtle Beach Public Safety Director.

Spain was charged with unlawful sale or delivery of pistol to, and possession by, certain persons, possession of firearms and ammunition, manufacturing/possession of: schedule I,II,III (drugs), failure to stop for blue light, and driving under suspension. His bond was set at $45,000 surety with the condition that he be placed on electronic monitoring. He posted bond and was placed out on home detention November 16th.

Monday, police say he cut the ankle strap on his electronic monitoring device. It was found near Highway 31 and Highway 9.

Police are asking for your help in finding Spain. They say he should be considered dangerous. If you know where he is, call 915-5140 or 911. A reward is being offered for his successful capture.
