The jury took a lunch break Friday afternoon during their deliberations in the Robert Lee Nelson double murder trial.
Jurors got the case at 3 p.m Thursday, but Circuit Court judge Steven John dismissed them 90 minutes later when the air conditioner went out in the jury room.
Nelson, 21, is accused of killing Walter Swaner, 84, and Mary Swaner, 80, in December of 2009.
Their bodies were found at their home on Dixie Acres drive in Dillon County.
The state had served Nelson with a notice of intent to seek the death penalty but withdrew it after he was declared intellectually disabled, but competent to stand trial.
