Man involved in standoff with police faces three charges

Police say Lynde set fire to the home.

Walter Lynde, 45, was charged Tuesday after being involved in a standoff with police that lasted about 15 hours Monday.

He's charged with Criminal Domestic Violence of a High and Aggravated Nature, Resisting Arrest with a Deadly Weapon, and Arson Third Degree.

A woman took off from the home after a dispute with Lynde, who then barricaded himself in the home on Hunting Bow Trail Road just after midnight Monday morning, according to Horry County Police Lieutenant Robert Kegler.

During negotiations, Lynde became increasingly agitated and hostile, showing officers his weapons, Horry County police said.

Police say Lynde set the home on fire before police used tactical methods to coerce Lynde out.

No shots were fired during the stand off.
