A jury acquitted Nelson McDaniel of Murder and Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Crime in the death of Lee Jackson, Jr., according to McDaniel's attorney , Tonya Copeland-Little.
Court officials said the jury deliberated for nearly six hours on Thursday.
Jackson was shot to death in May of 2012 at a baseball field on Centerville Road in Darlington.
Deputies said the two men had been arguing when McDaniel pulled out a gun and shot Jackson.
Little said her client shot Jackson in self-defense.
She added McDaniel is relieved to be acquitted of the charges against him , and he's ready to move on with his life.
McDaniel had been jailed since his arrest two years ago.
