Man found not guilty of baseball field murder

      Nelson McDaniel was acquited Thursday.

      A jury acquitted Nelson McDaniel of Murder and Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Crime in the death of Lee Jackson, Jr., according to McDaniel's attorney

      Court officials said the jury deliberated for nearly six hours on Thursday.

      Jackson was shot to death in May of 2012 at a baseball field on Centerville Road in Darlington.

      Deputies said the two men had been arguing when McDaniel pulled out a gun and shot Jackson.

      Little said her client shot Jackson in self-defense.

      She added McDaniel is relieved to be acquitted of the charges against him


      and he's ready to move on with his life.

      McDaniel had been jailed since his arrest two years ago.
