Man collapses after deputies shoot him with Taser

Robeson County deputies say they got a call Friday night saying a man was assaulting people at a store on U.S. Highway 301 in the Parkton community.

When deputies got to the scene, they say the man attacked them and tried to steal a patrol car.

Deputies say they shot him once with a stun gun, but it didn't seem to have any effect.

The man kept attacking officers, so they say they shot him a second time with the Taser. He continued to fight with officers and then collapsed.

He later died.

The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is looking into the man's death.

The Robeson County Sheriff plans to send out a news release later Monday afternoon.
