Man charged with killing college student in Scotland County

Timarius Baker, 21, of Rowland, is charged with First Degree Murder, Armed Robbery, Arson and Possession of a Firearm By A Felon in the death of Demonsha Clegg, 21, according to Scotland County Sheriff Shep Jones.

Clegg was found shot to death on Plantation Road near Laurinburg Sunday morning.

Jones says the two left the Encore nightclub in McColl early Sunday morning in Clegg's car.

Baker killed her, stole her car and then set it on fire, Jones said.

Clegg was a student at Elizabeth City State University in North Carolina.

Baker is being held at the Scotland County Detention Center.
