Myrtle Beach police charged Jared Mcrae Mahler, 25, of Ocoee, Florida, with Felony Driving Under the Influence, Death Results for a wreck at 4798 North Kings Highway about 5:30 p.m. Monday.
Jacob Young, 27, from Palmetto Bay, Florida, died in the crash, according to Horry County Coroner Robert Edge.
Two vehicles were speeding on Kings Highway, police say, when Mahler lost control of the camaro and crashed, killing Young. The cars were most likely racing, said Captain David Knipes.
The other car took off before police arrived.

The man who died in the crash, Jacob Young, worked for three years for Continental Event and Sports Management Group, the company that organized this weekend's Myrtle Beach Mini Marathon. The company has started the Forever Young Foundation. They have set up a website for donations. The money will help his family with funeral expenses. After that, it will fund scholarships.
