Man charged with assaulting, burning girlfriend

Deputies say Robert Blanton, 21, assaulted his girlfriend and burned her with matches.

Blanton is charged with Criminal Domestic Violence of a High and Aggravated Nature.

Officers say Monday he attacked his 19-year-old girlfriend at a home on Pineview Road in Bennettsville.

Blanton punched her in the face, choked her, ripped her shirt off and burned her with matches, according to the incident report.

The report also states at one point he told his girlfriend he was going to cut her with a saw.

She managed to run away to a neighbor's for help.

Blanton's bond has been denied.
