Man charged in death of Lumberton man

The Robeson County Sheriff's Office says it has charged Jerry Oxendine, 60, with Second Degree Murder in the death of Delton Lloyd Cummings, 53.

Deputies said Cummings was reported missing by a family member on April 26.

An extensive investigation was conducted and on May 9 Cummings' body was found in the Lumber River off of Highway 980 in Pembroke, North Carolina.

Cummings died as a result of being stabbed, according to deputies.

Oxendine's bond has been set at $100,000.

This investigation was conducted by the Robeson County Sheriff's Office Homicide Division and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.
