Man attacked by dogs in Dillon County

An employee with the SC Department of Health and Environmental Control was critically injured after he was attacked by two pit bulls Tuesday at a home on Wilderness Road in Dillon County, according to Captain Cliff Arnette with the Dillon County Sheriff's Office.

Someone called 911 and deputies responded to the scene and found the man in pretty bad shape.

Arnette says the officers had to shoot and kill the dogs.

The victim's name isn't being released.

Arnette says the pit bulls weren't confined at the time of the attack.

He says they're investigating to determine if criminal charges will be filed against the dogs' owner.
