The Marlboro County Sheriff's Office arrested Kadeem Latef Hooks, 20, of Wallace, Monday for Burglary First Degree, Criminal Sexual Conduct, Kidnapping and Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Violent Crime.
Deputies and investigators responded to a home on Old Wire Road Sunday afternoon, where a victim used a Life Alert system to contact police, following the assault, according to Sheriff Fred Knight.
The investigation revealed that a 70-year-old woman, at home with her 80-year-old husband, answered a knock at their door, and Hooks then made his way into the home where he assaulted her at knife point while her husband sat in another room, deputies added.
The victim was able to use her Life Alert system to alert 911 and scare away Hooks.
Investigators interviewed key witnesses and developed Hooks as a suspect late Sunday night.
The investigation will continue and after consulting with the 4th Circuit Solicitors Office, more arrests may come in the near future.
Hooks is currently on Probation for Burglary 3rd degree for a crime committed last year in Marlboro County, Knight said.
