A store owner is out on bond after Horry County sheriff's deputies were tipped off about counterfeit items being sold at his store inside Myrtle Beach Mall.
Detjon Zyka is the owner of Treasure Island where deputies seized nearly $26,000 in counterfeit merchandise, according to Horry County Sheriff's Office spokesman Jeff Benton.
Zyka is charged with Unauthorized Use or Trafficking in Counterfeit Trademarks by an Individual.
Agents seized items like jewelry, stickers, hats and T-shirts with college logos on them and name brands.
The South Carolina Secretary of State's Office assisted in the investigation.
"So the investigators went with our deputies on the day that we seized those, so we knew right away these weren't licensed. Plus you have to be able to produce the license to sell these merchandise and he wasn't able to do so," Jeff Benton with the Horry County Sheriff's Office said.
