A 13-year-old boy told Horry County police Jimmy Jackson, 46, of Loris, woke him up by hitting him with a drop cord about 1:45 a.m. Monday.

The boy said he left the house but didn't call police because he doesn't have a phone.

Later that day, he did call police when he says Jackson came after him with a metal pipe. The boy says he ran to a friend's house after he was hit a couple of times.

Police say the boy had cuts on his face from the pipe.

Horry County police charged with Jackson with Cruelty to Children.

      Jackson denies hitting the boy.
