Man arrested for attempted kidnapping after suspicious interactions with Florence children
Florence, S.C. (WPDE) —
A 30-year-old Camden man has been charged with attempted kidnapping after reports of a suspicious person asking Florence children about a missing dog, according to a news release from Florence police.
Robert Brian Sharp was arrested on Wednesday night and charged with two counts of attempted kidnapping, the release said.
During the investigation, officers learned that Sharpe "allegedly engaged a juvenile in a conversation about a missing dog in the 1000 block of Cheraw Drive. During the conversation, Mr. Sharp reportedly asked the juvenile a question of a sexual nature and she ran away," the release said.
That incident happened on Tuesday, Nov. 7, police said.
According to police, Sharp is accused of engaging in the same activity with two children in the 2700 block of Whitestone Drive on Monday, Nov. 13.
Sharp is currently in the Florence County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
