Man arrested after shooting a man he says tried to break in

Horry County police arrested Robert Anthony Martinez, 32, after they say he shot Adam Gibson, 37.

When police arrived to the home on Holly Circle in Socastee just before 3 p.m. Tuesday, they found Gibson sitting on the front porch with one of his fingers hanging by its skin and bullet holes in his stomach.

There were also bullet holes in the door.

Martinez told police Gibson was trying to kick the door in, according to a police report.

He goes on to say he told Gibson to leave, and that he had a gun. Martinez says Gibson continued to try to enter his home, and in fear, Martinez shot Gibson, according to the report.

Martinez was arrested for Felon in Possesion of a Firearm and taken to jail.

Gibson was taken to Grand Strand Hospital.
