Man accused of shooting his wife multiple times

Michael Monroe Floyd

Florence County deputies arrested Michael Monroe Floyd, 32, of Florence, Thursday and charged him with Attempted Murder.

According to investigators, around May 1, Floyd shot his wife multiple times at a home in Florence.

The victim was seriously injured and required extensive medical treatment at an area hospital.

At a bond hearing for Floyd Thursday, a Florence County Magistrate set bond at $25,000.

Floyd's attorney Rose Mary Parham released this statement Thursday:

"Michael Floyd absolutely denies that he ever harmed or attempted to harm his wife. At the hearing, the State conceded that there is very little evidence and no forensic evidence linking Michael to the crime. Michael is innocent of these charges and looks forward to his day in court."
