Man accused of driving truck into river after carjacking booked into jail

Gregory Spry is being held at the J. Rueben Long Detention Center.

Gregory Allen Spry, 44, of North Myrtle Beach was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center at 1:26 p.m. Wednesday.

He faces two counts of carjacking, six charges of possession of a weapon during a violent crime if also sentenced to life without parole or death, and seven charges of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.

Police say he carjacked two people, caused two crashes, and eventually landed in the Waccamaw River on June 22.

Spry wasn't booked until this week because he was hurt in the crash and was in the hospital.
