Another K9 Officer with the Lumberton Police Department is getting a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to Vested Interests in K9s Incorporated, along with Groupon donations, according to a release.
K9 Officer Spike is the second at the department to get one of these vests. K9 Officer Nero got one in January.
"I would like to thank Vested Interests in K9s and Groupon for making this happen. Every officer is issued a vest when they are hired and now my partner has the protection he needs. From Spike and myself I would like to thank all those who donated to Groupon to ensure that Spike is safe as he goes into situations that most officers do not go into," said Lumberton Police Sergeant J. Cain.
Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. is an all volunteer charity whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests for law enforcement dogs throughout the United States. Each vest costs $950.00 and has a five-year warranty.
