Lumberton police have extra tool to help solve crimes

The Lumberton Police Department has partnered with Crime Block Incorporated to help officers solve crimes.

Rev. Larry Williams of Dillon County developed the boxes more than 20 years ago.

The boxes allow residents to secretly and anonymously inform police about a crime.

Rev. Williams came up with the idea and the boxes are now in schools, neighborhoods, churches and police departments across the Pee Dee and Horry County.

Crime Block Inc. along with the Lumberton Police Department Criminal Investigative Division have placed four “Crime Block” boxes at the following locations:

The boxes are located at IGA’s located at 1000 North Pine Street, 1002 East 5th Street, and 1733 Roberts Ave. and the fourth box is located at P.J.‘s Shop N Save located at 801 E. 2nd Street.

The boxes are locked and have slots in each of them in hopes that the public will drop tips on crimes occurring around the city.

The boxes will be checked by the Lumberton Police Department Criminal Investigative Division on a regular basis.
