Horry County police arrested Joseph Stewart Rawls, 22, for stealing a dog in December.
Police were called to a home on Sweet Home Drive in Loris for a report of larceny of a dog on December 21. When they got there, the owner of the dog said his "Treeing Walker" hunting dog had been stolen, according to the police report. The victim stated the dog went missing from its kennel where another dog was also housed, and the kennel gate had been shut, the report says.
The victim said in the report that Rawls had called him earlier in the day, asking to get items from him. The report also says the victim stated that Rawls sent him a text message, asking to buy one of his hunting dogs.
The victim also showed officers foot prints leading to his house from a ditch, the report says.
Rawls was charged with stealing dogs, and booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center Tuesday morning.
