Longtime Horry County United Way president stepping down

Olivia Garren, president of the United Way of Horry County, is resigning after 38 years with the organization.
Garren started with the organization in 1975 as a part-time secretary. In 1980, she became Executive Director, a title that was changed to President in 2009.
Garren has earned several awards during her time with the charity including the Order of the Silver Crescent in 2007.
Garren plans to leave her position in the spring after the United Way campaign for this year comes to a close, according to a release by the organization.
