Loaded gun found in Target toy aisle

A loaded gun was found in the toy aisle of the Target on Seaboard Street in Myrtle Beach on Friday and the Myrtle Beach Police Department is looking for help identifying a man involved.

According to a police report, a loss prevention officer with Target noticed an empty wrapper in the toy aisle and thought someone had shoplifted and left the empty wrappings.

While looking for that merchandise, he saw a black handgun on the shelf lying in a superhero toy box. He thought it was a toy gun until he realized it was fully loaded with live ammunition, the report says.

The loss prevention officer said in the report that he thought he had an idea who could have left the gun there based on suspicious activity earlier in the day. He said he would make a copy of the store surveillance video for police.

Myrtle Beach police took the gun, which was a highpoint 9mm, and eight ammunition rounds. The gun had not been reported stolen.

Please contact Detective H Jones if you can identify the man in the attached photo or if you have any other information. He can be reached at 843-918-1911.
