The sheriff's offices in Florence and Darlington counties held a service Monday morning to honor their law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty and those who died in the past year, whether in the line of duty or not.
Officers gathered at the Cornerstone Baptist Church, along with family members of those officers being remembered.
"Unlike any other profession, law enforcement officers place their duty to their city, county, state and country above their personal safety each and every day," said Florence County Sheriff Kenney Boone.
The following officers from Florence and Darlington counties were honored:
Captain Julius Lee, Lt. Gary Hanna, Cpl Thomas W. Spears, Deputy John M. Timmons, Sheriff Edward A.McLeod, Deputy Joseph C. Rodgers, Officer Matthew Clayton, Lt. Rick Gould, Officer H.N. Cousar, Officer L.F. Hill, Officer Grady Martin, Officer E.W. Johnson, Chief Robert F. Sexton, Chief Johnny E. Wright, Chief Michael Martin, Sheriff Charles Grinnell, Chief Jay Cox, Officer Ulysses Dobson, Sr.
All died between 1926 and 2013.
