Lake City High School was put on lockdown Tuesday after a weapon was found inside a student's car, according to Lake City School District Public Information Officer Brian Huckabee.

One student has been arrested for having a gun, used for hunting, inside his car, according to Major Michael Nunn With the Florence County Sheriff's Office.

The small caliber rifle was found after a student said someone fired a BB gun at them in the parking lot, according to Captain John Crouse, who is in charge of the FCSO Special Services Division which oversees the School Resource Officer Program.

When that student told school officials that he had been shot at and school officials questioned the student accused of firing the BB gun, asking him if he had any other weapons. The student told them he had left the rifle in his car, according to Crouse.

A viewer sent us a SnapChat video apparently showing the teen pointing the BB gun at a student. We showed the video to police who confirmed it was the incident under investigation.

Huckabee said school administrators called police after learning a weapon could be on campus and placed the school lockdown as a precaution.

We are working to learn more information about the charges filed against the student.
