Lake City doctor arrested on prescription drug charges

Dr. David Rodriguez, 39, of Florence is charged with nine counts of unlawfully distributing a quantity of narcotics and unlawfully pre-sign a blank prescription documents for his staff to use to write prescriptions for patients while he was away from the Lake City practice on leave, according to arrests warrants by the SC Department of Health And Environmental Control.
The warrants also stated the prescriptions were written without a bonafide physician-patient relationship and without an evaluation by a physician.
Rodriguez practices medicine at the Lake City Medical Clinic.
The crimes happened between December 2013 and January of this year, according to the arrest warrants.
Rodriguez was arrested last Thursday.
He's been released from the Florence County Detention Center on a personal recognize bond of $4,500.
