Town hall meetings are being held in Horry County so residents "know their zone."
Horry County Emergency Management is hosting the meetings for the community on the Know Your Zone hurricane campaign, now in its second year.
The campaign aims to educate the public on changes that went into effect in the 2012 hurricane season, which includes three new hurricane evacuation zones.
Emergency Management officials say it is important for people to know if they are in these new zones and what to do if they are asked to leave.
The first meeting is for residents living on the North Strand and in the Little River areas. That will take place July 30 at 6 p.m. at the C.B. Berry Community and Historical Center at 2250 Highway 179 in Little River.
A meeting will be held for residents on the South Strand on August 6. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the South Strand Recreation center located in Myrtle Beach at 9650 Scipio Lane.
Residents living in the Bucksport area can attend a meeting August 13 at 6 p.m. at the James R. Frazier Community Center at 1370 Bucksport Road in Conway.
