K9 officers to be featured in calendar to raise money for department

The Florence County Sheriff's Office's 13 member K9 Team will be featured in a calendar to help raise money for the department to build a new training facility for the animals.

The facility would be built near the sheriff's office in Effingham and would include kennels, a shed, a fence and updated training equipment.

The Law Enforcement Advocacy Foundation, or LEAF, thought of the idea to help the department fund the facility.LEAF is a non-profit organization formed to help law enforcement in Florence County.

"Anytime you have community involvement, people getting together to our local law enforcement, I think it's a win win for everybody. It shows how much our people care. Our citizens care about the sheriff's department," said Victor Webster, LEAF.

Photographer Fred Salley donated his time and services to take pictures of the K9 Team.

The calendars are $20 each and should be available in two weeks.

You can purchase them at Creek Ratz, Fatz or through LEAF's website at
