Jury fails to reach verdict in murder trial

A Florence County jury will report back to court Friday morning after failing to reach a unanimous decision Thursday night in the murder trial of Justin Simms,

      22.

He's charged with Murder, Armed Robbery and Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime in the death of Marcus Weaver,

      24.

Weaver was shot to death outside a motel on West Lucas Street in Florence on January 10,

      2010.

Court officials say the jury deliberated until 8 p.m. Thursday and were sent home.

Circuit Court Judge Knox McMahon is expected to ask jurors if they can reach a verdict.

If they're unable to do so, it's expected that a mistrial will be declared. We will let you know what happens.
