The number of passengers that arrived into the Myrtle Beach International Airport in June is up almost nine percent over last year.

Year-to-date the airport is also up for arriving passengers, according to the release.

From January through the end of June the airport saw 417,831 passengers arriving, or a seven percent increase over the same period in 2013.

"Allegiant Air's month-over-month growth was spectacular, as a result of doubling the markets served, the airline more than doubled the number of vacationers it brought to the Grand Strand. The continued growth at Myrtle Beach International Airport is the direct result of a strong vacation destination and a healthy aviation industry," said Pat Apone, Director of Airports, in the release.
