Johnsonville missionary killed in car crash in California
Johnsonville, S.C. (WPDE) —
Mike Evans of Johnsonville was killed in a car crash this week in Redding, California, when a trailer broke free from a pickup and hit Evans as he was walking, according to Evans' relatives.
Relatives said Hunter Wainscott, 18, of Hemingway, was badly injured in the incident.
His condition hasn't been released.
Evans' family said he was in California to further his worship experience.
Evans is being remembered as an extraordinary young man who never met a stranger and would do anything in his power to help someone in need.
His family said he had a heart for young people and worked tirelessly to help young people better their lives.
Evans served on the worship team, keyboardist and as a youth leader at Crossover Church in Johnsonville.
His family has set up a GoFundMe account to assist with expenses to bring Evans home.
