The Discovery Channel kicked off the 25th anniversary of Shark Week this Sunday, August 4th.
The show started off with a film about the existence of the Megladon shark in present times.
Shark Week was a big talker on Twitter and Facebook all day Sunday.
The Grand Strand has some frequent tracked great white shark visits from Mary Lee, Genie and Lydia. These three sharks were tagged by OCEARCH in an effort to better understand shark behavior.
It has been a while since Mary Lee, the 16 ft, 3,456 pound great white visited the Grand Strand coastline and she was last pinged many miles off the coast between Savannah and Hilton Head on August.
You can track Mary Lee, Lydia and Genie's journey on the Ocearch website at this link.
