Investigators arrest eight in connection with crack cocaine, meth, opioid sales

Eight people have been arrested in connection with crack cocaine, methamphetamine, and opioid sales in Darlington County.

According to a news release, Darlington County Sheriff's Office Drug Enforcement Unit investigators and the U.S. Marshals Service Taskforce have arrested eight individuals.

Sheriff Tony Chavis says the individual are believed to have been selling drugs in the county.

"My investigators are committed to removing drug dealers from our county and there are more arrests to come," said Chavis in the news release. "I want to thank the public for the information they have shared with us because cleaning up our community is a partnership."

The following individuals were arrested and charged:

  • Ryan Douglas Rushing, 29, of Darlington, three counts of distribution of methamphetamine and two counts of distribution of methamphetamine within proximity of a school;
  • Codie Oswalt Bell, 35, of Darlington, one count of distribution of crack cocaine and one count of distribution of crack cocaine within proximity of a school;
  • Antonio Rivers, 28, of Hartsville, one count of distribution of crack cocaine;
  • Chaldric Andricus Mitchell, 33, of Hartsville, four counts of distribution of crack cocaine;
  • Floyd Stewart, Jr., 27, of Hartsville, one count of distribution of methamphetamine and one count of distribution of crack cocaine;
  • Eric Shawn Blakney, 39, of Hartsville, two counts of distribution of crack cocaine;
  • Willie Eugene Poston, 69, of Hartsville, three counts of distribution of a schedule II controlled substance;
  • Claude Junior Moore, IV, 23, of Hartsville, one count of distribution of cocaine and one count of distribution of methamphetamine.
