The State Law Enforcement Division arrested an inmate at Columbia's Graham Correctional Institution for Women in connection with threats against Circuit Court Judge Craig Brown, his family, and staff at the Public Defender's Office in Florence.
Veda Sue Blevins, 35, of Florence was charged with two counts of Threatening the Life of a Person of Family of a Public Official, one count of Intimidation of Court Officials, Jurors or Witnesses, and Making a Bomb Threat.
Blevins was booked at the Florence County Detention Center on Wednesday.
Between April 1 and April 29, 2014, Blevins sent three threatening letters to the City County Complex on Irby Street in Florence, according to arrest warrants.
The warrants said in the letter, Blevins threatened to kill Circuit Court Judge Craig Brown, his wife and his children.
A letter threatening to kill all the public defenders by placing a bomb in the building was also sent to the Florence County Public Defender's Office in the City County Complex in January of this year, according to a warrant.
Blevins was serving a 40-month sentence for making bomb threats. Corrections Department records show she was set to be released on May 27.
