A Myrtle Beach man and woman were arrested by Horry County police after officers were called to an apartment and found a baby and 1-year-old had been left home alone, according to the police report.
Robert Brandon Spiva, 22, and Trevissa Darlyn Johnson, 18, were each charged with Unlawful Neglect of a Child and booked at J. Reuben Long Detention Center on Tuesday.
Horry County police were called to the apartment around 9 p.m. Monday after a man, who was walking his dog, heard a baby crying through an open window. He told police he was concerned because there weren't any vehicles parked in the driveway and nobody answered the door. When officers got there, the door was unlocked. They found baby in a car seat inside and a 1-year-old in a playpen upstairs.
Spiva eventually showed up at the apartment and told police he'd paid Johnson $50 to watch his kids while he was at work. Johnson told police he was supposed to drop the kids off at her house.
The children were taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, then placed in protective custody with a Department of Social Services official, according to the report.
Bond has not been set for either Spiva or Johnson, according to online records.
