      Hurricane Sandy Relief Drives: How you can help

      Below are the relief efforts happening in our area for the victims of Hurricane Sandy. If you have an event you'd like to see added, just email us at

      Waccamaw Elementary School in Pawleys Island

      *collecting through 11/9

      *Needed: Baby supplies such as diapers, wipes, Desitin/A&D ointment, baby powder, baby bottles... blankets, coats, socks, cleaning supplies, garbage bags, non-perishable food items

      One Punch Fitness in Carolina Forest*truck leaving at 2 p.m. on 11/16

      *needed: rubber gloves, trash bags, bleach, winter clothes for adults, children, toddlers, and infants, gift cards to Walmart, Best Buy, Lowes Home Improvement, Home Depot, checks, cash, canned food, cereal, oatmeal, dried fruits, nuts, batteries of all kind, flashlights, bottled or jugged water, mops, brooms, work gloves, masks, gas cans, gasoline, and contractor bags, mops, brooms.

      Total Media Relief

      November 12, WPDE will join other area radio and television stations for "Total Media Relief" to benefit the American Red Cross efforts in the areas impacted by Superstorm Sandy.

      *We will broadcast live starting at 5 a.m. during Good Morning Carolinas on WPDE and continue throughout the day, including our 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. newscasts.

      *Monetary collections will take place from 6 a.m. - 7 p.m. in front of Hard Rock Cafe at Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach.

      *Only monetary donations will be accepted at this drive.

      Aromas Pizza/United Way

      November 10, Aromas Pizza at 10799 Highway 707 in Murrells Inlet will hold a fundraiser to benefit those impacted by Superstorm Sandy.

      *From noon until close on Saturday

      *With every $10 donation, you get two slices of pizza and a fountain drink

      *Proceeds from the event go to the United Way
