The 30th Annual Jack Monroe Beach Ride is in full swing at Lakewood Camping Resort in Horry County.

The Beach Ride is a fundraising event that brings horse owners from all over to camp and ride their horses on the beach.

More than 1,000 participants are expected to take part in this year's events that run through Sunday.

Hannah Rangel, 14, has come for the past three years to celebrate her birthday, which is November 5th.

She has been riding since the age of nine and really enjoys being here. She says, "It's really cool being able to talk to other people. You meet people from all over the world down here, and there's gorgeous horses that I've never seen before."

Her favorite part is being able to take her horse, Tucson, swimming in the ocean.

Some of the events include a poker run, costume contest and parade, and a twenty mile beach run.

The money raised this week will go to the American Heart Association.
