Horry County Sheriff's Office employee injured in wreck now out of hospital

Ralph Vaught, who was injured in a car wreck on December 21, has been released from the hospital, according to Sgt. Jeff Benton with the Horry County Sheriff's Office.

Benton said Vaught was released from Grand Strand Regional Medical Center on Wednesday.

He will undergo physical therapy for injuries he sustained in the wreck on Highway 701.

Ralph has been with the Sheriff's Office for years. He also worked for Horry County for 44 years, according to Benton.

"He's a great man and he knows how lucky he is to have survived this wreck," said Benton.

Neptali Perez, 34, of Conway has been arrested in connection to the wreck, according to Sonny Collins with South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Perez faces many charges including Hit and Run with Great Bodily Injury, Too Fast for Conditions and Driving Under Suspension, among other charges.

He is being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center without bail.
