Horry County Sheriff's Office remembers one of their own

Horry County Sheriff's Office remembers one of their own (WPDE)

Deputy Timothy Causey, who lost his life 5 years ago during the Windsor Green fire in Carolina Forest, was honored Saturday by the the Horry County Sheriff's Office.

The intersection at Green Sea Road and Highway 9 is now Deputy Sheriff Timothy Causey Memorial Intersection.

Family and friends from near and far gathered to honor the fallen officer at the Green Sea Baptist Church in Green Sea.

Causey's sister spoke and recalled memories with her brother. She said to have an intersection named after him is an honor, not only to her family, but to all the folks in their tightly knit community.

"I hope that as people see the sign as they ride by, that a smile will come on their face as they remember a happy memory of Timmy, some way that he helped them," said Gail Causey.

Gail said this is the last thing her brother would have wanted, as he was a private man and simply wanted to spend his life helping people.

Causey farmed three corners of this intersection for the first 18 years of his life, so it was only fitting that the intersection was named in his honor.

Causey served 25 years with the Horry County Sheriff's Office.
