Surfside Beach police arrested an Horry County man after a three-week long investigation on a rash of vehicle break-ins near beach accesses and amusement attractions.
Undercover officers scoped out the areas and searched for stolen merchandise in pawn shops and flea markets.
They identified Clifford Dotson and obtained warrants for him, but couldn't find him. Horry County police found Dotson Friday afternoon, passed out in a vehicle.
After his arrest, police found more witnesses and evidence. They got a search warrant for his home on Holmestown Road and found stolen items worth thousands of dollars, including digital cameras, smartphones, and electronic equipment.
Surfside Beach police charged Dotson with ten counts of Breaking and Entering Motor Vehicle, three counts of Grand Larceny, one count of Larceny, and nine counts of Financial Transaction Card Fraud
He'll likely face charges in Horry County and Myrtle Beach as well.
