High speed chase follows bank robbery

Rodney Bartshe Jr. of Greensboro is expected to be charged with Armed Robbery, Failure to Stop For A Blue Light and Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, according to Lt. Larry Turner with Bennettsville Police.

Turner says the robbery happened at Carolina Bank on 15-401 Bypass in Bennettsville Monday morning.

After the robbery, the robber left in a silver Honda, according to Bennettsville Police Chief Larry McNeil.

Police spotted a car fitting the description of the one involved in the robbery near McColl. They chased the car into Laurinburg, where the suspect's car wrecked.

A person walking was hit by debris from the wreck and taken to the hospital, Bennettsville police say.

He's expected to be OK.

Turner says Bartshe is being held at the Scotland County Detention and will be brought back to Marlboro County following an extradition hearing.
