McLeod Health received several awards Tuesday from Healthgrades, an independent healthcare ratings company.
The awards include outstanding patient care, distinguished hospital, cardiac care, vascular surgery, general surgery and spine surgery.
McLeod Health has received 23 top honors for 2013 and 2014 from Healthgrades.
Healthgrades says it bases its ratings on reports by hospitals to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
Hospitals may not opt in or out from being analyzed, and the company says there is no pay to play.
Every year, Healthgrades uses three years of data to produce a detailed report on mortality and complication rates in America's hospitals.
Approximately 40 million Medicare-patient records for nearly 4,500 hospitals were analyzed and those findings empower consumers to evaluate and compare hospital performance, according to Healthgrades.
McLeod Health has five hospitals and operates health and fitness center, sports medicine and outpatient rehabilitation center, behavior health center, hospice and home health services.
