Harvest Hope experiences food shortages in the Pee Dee

Harvest Hope's Pee Dee facility is experiencing drastic food shortages and looking for the means to increase food inventory to continue to meet the needs of hungry families in the community.

Harvest Hope's Florence facility provided food for more than 21,200 families in June, an increase of more than 3,400 families than in May.

They currently need 110,000 pounds of food, or two complete tractor trailer loads, to reach minimum operating capacity and ensure they can continue to feed people in the Pee Dee.

Harvest Hope dedicates 98¢ out of every dollar donated to feeding hungry people and can purchase five pounds of food for a dollar, or the equivalent of five meals.

Donations make an immediate impact on food inventory levels, which will put food on the table of a hungry family right away.

Even though Harvest Hope's donation levels remain consistent with last year, the increase in demand over last year has almost depleted their food supplies.

The fastest and most convenient way to help is to donate online at, or call their Florence facility at 843-661-0826 to ask how you can organize a food drive to help bring canned goods and shelf stable food.
