The family of Chandler Spencer, 51, found him dead in his home on West Washington Street in Hartsville Monday, according to Darlington County Coroner J. Todd Hardee.
Chandler had not been seen since Thursday afternoon.
Hardee ruled Spencer's death a homicide, based on autopsy results.
Hartsville police are investigating.
They say several things are missing from Spencer's home, including a white 1998 Chrysler Town and Country minivan, a flat-screen television, Spencer's wallet and cell phone.
"Locating the missing vehicle is one of our primary focuses in this investigation, as it may help in the identification of suspects," Police Chief James Hudson said in a press release. "We hope anyone with information which can assist in this case will contact us."
The van has South Carolina license plate HUU-352.
