The H. J. Heinz Corporation, known for Heinz ketchup, will open a plant there for their frozen meals division.
Florence County officials tell NewsChannel 15 the county's low tax rates and great business climate helped clinch the deal.
They say the jobs will impact the entire Pee Dee area.
"I think Florence County is becoming a mecca of manufacturing industrial prospects," said Florence City Council member Rusty Smith.
Councilman Smith tells NewsChannel 15 Florence County beat out several states, including Pennsylvania and Texas for the jobs.
He says the jobs will come with excellent benefits and salaries. He couldn't provide specific wages, but says Florence County has one of the highest pay scales in the state. "We have now the fastest growing per capita income level in the state of South Carolina it's better than Greenville, Charleston and Columbia," Smith said
We're told people from the surrounding counties will apply for these jobs because of the higher wages and they don't mind the commute.
Heinz is one of the world's largest food producers.
